Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager

Description

We are looking for an experienced Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager to oversee food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities for a Contract position based in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role will guide site-level quality programs within a manufacturing and agricultural processing setting, ensuring products consistently meet company expectations and external standards. The position works closely with operations, production, warehouse, engineering, and site leadership to strengthen quality performance, support continuous improvement, and reinforce a strong food safety culture. Due to the nature of the work and onsite requirements, preference will be given to Hawaii residents. Applicants should be able to reliably commute or reside within the region to meet business needs. Responsibilities:

• Lead site food safety and quality programs to maintain compliance with internal policies, customer expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Coordinate audit preparation and support inspections from regulatory agencies and third-party auditors, ensuring records and processes are fully review-ready.

• Manage quality documentation, controlled records, and reporting practices to maintain accuracy, traceability, and consistency across the site.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate non-conformances, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

• Oversee product hold and release processes, helping protect inventory integrity and confirming only compliant materials move forward.

• Monitor sanitation activities and facility inspection programs to uphold hygienic standards throughout manufacturing and processing operations.

• Analyze quality and operational data to identify trends, reduce waste, improve yield, and drive measurable process improvements.

• Train, coach, and support team members on food safety expectations, quality procedures, and compliance best practices.

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in food manufacturing, agricultural processing, or a closely related production environment.

• Strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality systems, and audit requirements within a regulated setting.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, perform root cause analysis, and lead corrective action initiatives.

• Experience working across operations, production, engineering, and warehouse teams to improve quality outcomes.

• Knowledge of documentation control, inspection practices, sanitation oversight, and inventory hold or release procedures.

• Ability to interpret quality metrics and use data to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

• Proficiency with computerized systems used for tracking maintenance, inspections, compliance, or quality-related activities.
