We're seeking a Senior Project Architect to serve as the onsite Construction Phase Lead for a major renovation and new construction project in the Poughkeepsie, New York area. In this role, you'll provide construction administration leadership throughout project delivery, serving as a key liaison among the client, contractor, construction management team, and multidisciplinary design team. You'll help ensure the project is delivered in accordance with design intent, contractual requirements, quality standards, schedule objectives, and client expectations. Following successful project completion, there may be opportunities to transition into a full-time design team role within Jacobs.
What you'll do

Lead onsite construction administration activities for a complex renovation and new construction project.

Review and interpret drawings, specifications, agreements, and other contract documents to support construction-phase decision-making.

Perform onsite observations and evaluations to verify construction progress and conformance with project requirements.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, construction managers, and clients to resolve project issues and support successful project delivery.

Attend owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings and represent Jacobs during construction-phase discussions.

Monitor construction activities and keep the client informed of project progress and quality-related matters.

Document and communicate observed deviations, defects, and deficiencies.

Coordinate and request required inspections and testing activities.

Review contractor payment applications and process certificates for payment.

Review and respond to submittals and requests for information (RFIs).

Maintain accurate project records using designated project management software.

Support the evaluation, documentation, and implementation of changes to the work, including schedule and cost impacts.

Lead substantial completion activities and support project closeout efforts.

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
-
Professional registration as a Registered Architect.

20+ years of relevant professional experience.

OSHA 10 certification.
-
Demonstrated experience providing construction administration services on complex projects.

Demonstrated experience in a client-facing construction contract administration role leading multidisciplinary project teams.

Ability to proactively identify and help resolve design, coordination, and construction challenges with limited supervision.

In-depth knowledge of construction contract documents, including drawings, specifications, Division 01 requirements, General Conditions, Supplemental Conditions, and construction administration procedures.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with construction administration and project scheduling software applications.

Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Proficiency with Revit for architectural modeling and documentation.

Ability to work onsite full-time at the project location throughout the construction phase.
Ideally, you'll also have

Experience supporting large-scale institutional, public-sector, healthcare, higher education, or commercial building projects.

Experience working on projects involving both renovation and new construction scopes.

Familiarity with multidisciplinary design coordination across architectural and engineering disciplines.

Experience managing project closeout, warranty, and post-construction activities.

Strong client relationship management skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to see and hear, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to climb and descend step ladders, stairways, and uneven surfaces above and below ground level.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds from ground level, waist level, and overhead.

Ability to carry up to 25 pounds for distances of up to 5 yards.

Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and squat while navigating project and operational sites.
