Mission Assurance Engineer, OPS - Millennium Space Systems
Company: Millennium Space Systems
Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have direct impact to global security, like missile warning and Earth observation.
Our team is curious, bold and innovative. We take risks, innovate and explore new techniques and technologies. We influence change because we challenge the status quo. And when we watch our satellites launch, we know each one of us made it happen.
Job Summary
As an Operations Systems Engineer supporting the Mission Assurance team, you will serve as the independent interface between our internal operations team and program customers. This role is strategic and cross-functional, designed to revolutionize how we operate our on-orbit vehicles. You will independently approach on-orbit activities seeking to preemptively identify and solve challenging engineering problems and find the solutions that lead to mission success by evaluating program designs within the context of risk and opportunity. Your mission is to systematically identify, define, and integrate mission assurance principles across the entire satellite lifecycle to drive significant increases in efficiency, quality, and mission success. Mission Operations requires composure in high-pressure situations, in-depth knowledge of both the space vehicles and ground segment, and an ability to respond to anomalous scenarios in real-time. You will be directly responsible for Millennium’s critical assets.
This position's internal job code is Systems Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for a Level 3 and 4.

-
Ensure appropriate implementation of previous corrective actions and lessons learned to the current operations environment
-
Translate complex engineering and operational challenges into clear, actionable requirements and lessons learned for upcoming programs
-
Review and understand the operational architecture strategy for both space and ground segments, including command and control, mission planning, mission data processing, and the associated infrastructure to support all activities in the context of the mission and associated risks
-
Work and coordinate with integration, testing, and mission operation crews to review, generate, and implement necessary training prior to critical mission events
-
Provide oversight for lead technical authorities during mission operations for both the space and ground segments
-
Be the focal for customer and internal leadership during critical mission activities
-
Contribute to oversight of nominal on-orbit operations for Millennium’s entire fleet of on-orbit spacecraft
