At the end of the summer, you'll present your work to our executive leadership team, department leads, and fellow interns, sharing real results with a real audience. Position Description

Fervo Energy is developing next-generation geothermal power to deliver firm, carbon-free energy at scale. Our flagship Cape Station project in Milford, Utah is one of the largest next-generation geothermal developments in the world, and our Houston headquarters houses the engineering, commercial, and corporate teams driving Fervo's growth. This role sits at the intersection of accounting and automation — you'll work alongside Accounting and AI teams to identify manual, repetitive accounting workflows and help prototype ways to streamline them using automation and AI tools. Requirements Responsibilities

• Partner with the Accounting team to map current manual workflows (invoice processing, reconciliations, reporting)
• Identify candidate processes for automation or AI-assisted tooling
• Build lightweight prototypes or proofs-of-concept (e.g., Excel/Python scripts, GenAI-assisted workflows)
• Document current-state and future-state processes for stakeholder review
• Support pilot testing and rollout of approved automation solutions

Required Qualifications

• Rising Junior, Senior, Master's/MBA candidate wrapping up within the next year, or PhD candidate — we're building a pipeline toward full-time offers
• Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS, Computer Science, or Data Analytics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges
• Curious about AI and automation, with hands-on experience using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or Gemini

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with energy systems, industrial operations, or geoscience applications
• Prior experience with RAG architectures, data engineering, or scalable model deployment
