Site Superintendent
Location: Long Island City, NY
Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually
Work Arrangement: In-Person

About the Opportunity
Our SelectLeaders Client is an established construction firm specializing in high-end interior projects throughout New York City. The company is known for its commitment to quality, craftsmanship, client service, and delivering complex projects with a high level of precision.
They are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee daily field operations and lead the successful execution of high-end construction projects. This is a hands-on role for a Superintendent who takes ownership of the job site, understands the importance of quality and schedule, and can effectively lead subcontractors and coordinate with clients, architects, designers, and the project management team.
The Site Superintendent will oversee all day-to-day on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. Working closely with the Project Manager and project team, the Superintendent will manage subcontractors, coordinate site logistics, monitor progress, maintain quality control, and proactively identify and resolve issues that could impact the project.
The ideal candidate is an experienced NYC construction professional who is highly organized, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable representing the company in front of clients and design professionals.
Responsibilities
Site & Field Management
• Oversee all daily field operations for high-end interior construction projects.
• Manage site logistics, sequencing, manpower, deliveries, and overall workflow.
• Establish daily and weekly priorities to maintain project momentum.
• Monitor project progress against established schedules and milestones.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Manager to ensure field activities align with overall project objectives.
• Maintain an organized, professional, and safe job site.
Subcontractor & Trade Coordination
• Direct, coordinate, and manage subcontractors and trade partners.
• Establish expectations for workmanship, schedule, safety, and site conduct.
• Coordinate trade sequencing to prevent conflicts and maintain productivity.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and address issues proactively.
• Conduct regular site meetings and coordinate upcoming work activities.
• Review completed work to ensure it meets project plans, specifications, and quality expectations.
Quality Control & Construction Execution
• Interpret and implement architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure construction meets the project's quality standards.
• Identify design, coordination, and field issues and work with the project team to develop solutions.
• Coordinate inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly.
• Maintain a strong attention to detail throughout all phases of construction.
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce company safety policies and applicable OSHA and NYC Department of Buildings requirements.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
• Conduct and document safety meetings and site inspections as required.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with site safety requirements.
• Proactively identify and address potential safety concerns.
Client & Stakeholder Relations
• Serve as a professional on-site representative of the company.
• Communicate effectively with clients, architects, designers, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Maintain a calm, professional, and solutions-oriented approach when addressing challenges.
• Provide regular updates regarding site progress, upcoming activities, and potential issues.
• Build positive working relationships while maintaining project standards and expectations.
Project Documentation & Technology
• Utilize Procore to maintain daily logs, field documentation, photos, and project records.
• Track site progress and communicate field conditions to the project management team.
• Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, deliveries, and issues.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 4 years of experience supervising high-end construction projects in New York City.
• Experience with high-end interior construction required; luxury residential, luxury retail, and/or high-end hospitality experience strongly preferred.
• Comfortable representing the firm on site in front of clients, architects and designers with clear, articulate communication
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, scheduling, and site logistics.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage subcontractors and multiple trades.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong understanding of NYC construction practices and requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain composed, flexible, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Technology: Procore experience preferred; strong Microsoft Office skills required. Bluebeam experience is a plus.
• Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour certification and NYC SST card preferred.
Work Environment
This is an in-person position based on Manhattan job sites, with each Superintendent assigned to a specific job site. The position requires regular presence on active construction sites and may involve navigating stairs, uneven surfaces, and other typical job-site conditions while complying with required safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
