Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on leading the mechanical design and development of advanced industrial equipment from concept through validation. You will design components, perform engineering analyses, support prototype testing, and ensure products meet performance, quality, safety, manufacturability, and cost objectives. The position works closely with cross-functional teams across the product lifecycle and contributes to continuous improvement through testing and process optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of advanced industrial and capital equipment, ensuring robust and reliable performance.

  • Create detailed mechanical component and assembly designs using industry-standard CAD tools such as SolidWorks.

  • Perform engineering analyses to validate design integrity, including strength, durability, and manufacturability considerations.

  • Support prototype builds and testing, analyze test results, and refine designs to meet performance and reliability targets.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, procurement, and controls/automation, to ensure designs meet project requirements.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and design change records.

  • Participate actively in design reviews, presenting concepts, analysis, and test findings, and incorporating feedback into design updates.

  • Support production activities by resolving mechanical design issues, addressing manufacturability concerns, and implementing design improvements.

  • Assist procurement and supply chain teams by providing technical input on components, materials, and suppliers for mechanical systems.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through testing, data analysis, and process optimization to enhance product performance and reduce cost.

  • Ensure mechanical designs comply with relevant safety, quality, and industry standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 35+ years of professional mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven experience designing complex capital equipment and industrial machinery.

  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including understanding of materials, mechanics, and manufacturing processes.

  • Proficiency in mechanical design using CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.

  • Ability to perform engineering analysis to validate and optimize mechanical designs.

  • Basic understanding of industrial control systems, sensors, automation, and robotics and how they interface with mechanical systems.

  • Experience supporting prototype testing and product validation activities.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Strong documentation skills for creating and maintaining engineering drawings and specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on advanced industrial equipment in a production or manufacturing setting.

  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability and design for assembly principles.

  • Comfort participating in design reviews and presenting technical information to diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in engineering or manufacturing environments.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues in production and testing.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable designs.

Work Environment

This role operates in a dynamic industrial and manufacturing-focused environment where mechanical engineers collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and procurement teams. You will work with modern design tools such as SolidWorks and interact with complex capital equipment that integrates mechanical systems with industrial controls, sensors, automation, and robotics. The work involves a mix of office-based design and analysis activities and hands-on support for prototype builds and production on the manufacturing floor. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to contribute to process optimization and product enhancements.
