Full job description

Title:Mechanical Designer

ID:1209

Department:Operations

Position City:Southampton

Position State:PA

Description

Environmental Tectonics Corporation (ETC), a growing and dynamic manufacturing company, is seeking a versatile, highly creative Mechanical Designer with 7 to 10 years of experience to join our team and support our ongoing and upcoming production needs. In this role, you will serve as the bridge between abstract concepts and physical machinery. This individual will generate a variety of fresh ideas and work with the team to transform them into fully realized projects.

This position does not require a formal engineering degree. Instead, we are looking for an individual with a strong background in industrial arts, industrial design, or engineering technology combined with a hands-on mechanical intuition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept Generation & Execution - Brainstorm a diverse range of design ideas and turn concepts into structured, executable custom equipment projects.

  • Autodesk Inventor Modeling - Build, manage, and refine detailed 3D models, complex assemblies, and accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) using Autodesk Inventor.

  • Rapid Prototyping & 3D Printing - Evaluate, champion, and utilize 3D printing and advanced 3D modeling options to rapidly prototype components, test fits, prove concepts and/or produce production parts.

  • Engineering Collaboration - Partner closely with the mechanical engineering team to refine designs, ensuring concepts align with specifications.

  • Sourcing & Marketplace Integration - Leverage a deep understanding of industrial hardware marketplaces to identify and integrate purchased parts, optimizing design efficiency.

  • Design Flexibility - Remain highly steerable and adaptable, seamlessly pivoting design directions based on engineering feedback, changes, or prototyping results.

  • Design for manufacturability – including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • CAD/Process Improvement – Identifying ways to streamline CAD and/or related work to improve company productivity. Ability to code (VB, iLogic, Python) and a deep knowledge of the “inner workings” of Inventor is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience - 7 to 10 years of proven experience in mechanical design, with a strong preference for experience in a custom equipment manufacturing or specialized machinery environment.

  • Education & Background - Degree or background in Industrial Arts, Industrial Design, Engineering Technology, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.

  • Software - Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.

ETC offers competitive salaries and benefits and the opportunity to exercise your technical talents in a friendly and exciting work environment with a leading-edge technology company.

Candidates must be a US Citizen or an otherwise lawful US Resident.
