Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is partnering with a client to hire an experienced Certified Phlebotomist for a contract-to-hire opportunity in the Lake Success, NY area. The Phlebotomist will perform routine blood collection for both pediatric and adult patients while ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen handling, infection control, and documentation.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, seeing 4–6+ patients per hour , and traveling between nearby draw stations as needed.
Location: Lake Success, NY
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: 5 days per week; schedule varies between 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
Saturday Availability: Required
Travel: Weekly, as needed between assigned draw stations
Experience: Minimum 1 year
Certification: Phlebotomy certification required
Pay: $ 24.30/hour
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine venipuncture and phlebotomy procedures on pediatric and adult patients.

Perform finger-stick collections as required.

Properly identify and collect specimens according to laboratory requirements.

Understand specimen types, collection requirements, and the appropriate order of draw .

Verify patient demographics using two patient identifiers before specimen collection.

Accurately navigate the laboratory information system (LIS) with minimal errors.

Properly label, handle, and process specimens according to established laboratory procedures.

Maintain appropriate handwashing, aseptic technique, and infection-control practices.

Use required PPE, including gloves and lab coats, and properly dispose of hazardous materials.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Troubleshoot LIS issues and work with the LIS team to resolve outstanding problems.

Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Maintain a steady workflow while managing a patient volume of approximately 4–6 patients per hour or more .

Demonstrate knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures applicable to the role.

Travel to other designated draw stations and perform phlebotomy duties as needed.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience .

Current Phlebotomy Certification required.

Demonstrated experience performing both pediatric and adult phlebotomy .

Strong knowledge of specimen collection and order-of-draw procedures.

Ability to accurately verify patient identity and demographics.

Experience with laboratory computer systems/LIS preferred.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.

Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.

Pay Details: $24.34 per hour
