JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Required: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy. Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of Arkansas issued by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience Required: Experience in a retail pharmacy setting, with demonstrated knowledge of medication therapy management and prescription-processing workflows.

Preferred: Prior experience serving as a Pharmacist in Charge or in a supervisory/lead pharmacist role; experience managing a controlled substance program and DEA compliance; experience with psychiatric/behavioral health pharmacotherapy.

Knowledge / Skills

Required: Working knowledge of Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy regulations DEA controlled-substance requirements. Strong clinical pharmacology and drug-interaction knowledge, including medication classes common to a behavioral health population. Proficiency with pharmacy management and EHR systems. Effective personnel supervision, staff development, and interdisciplinary communication skills.

Preferred: Board Certification in Psychiatric Pharmacy (BCPP) or another relevant specialty (BCACP, BCPS) through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties; quality/process-improvement methodology experience; budget and inventory management experience; experience precepting pharmacy students or residents.

Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Carrying up to 20 pounds. Frequent sitting, standing, bending, stooping, walking and reaching. JOB SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Outpatient Pharmacy Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is responsible for the clinical, operational, regulatory, and administrative oversight of the St. Bernard’s Behavioral Health (SBBH) outpatient pharmacy. The PIC ensures the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients with mental health and substance use disorders while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards.

This position provides leadership to pharmacy staff, collaborates with behavioral health providers and interdisciplinary care teams, oversees medication management services, and promotes quality improvement initiatives that optimize patient outcomes. The Pharmacist in Charge serves as the pharmacist of record designated to the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy for the SBBH outpatient pharmacy permit and is accountable for controlled substance recordkeeping, staffing coverage during posted hours of operation, and all conditions of permit compliance.
