SUPERVISOR PHLEBOTOMY
Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau, WI
Full-Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period
8-hour day shifts, primarily Monday - Friday

The Phlebotomy Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of Phlebotomy and ensures compliance with patientcare quality standards as they relate to all age groups of patients. The Supervisor ensures smooth patient flow throughout the day, participates in and maintains performance improvement activities within the department and monitors competency of phlebotomy personnel. The supervisor will maintain efficient and cost-effective department operation while ensuring compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.
Experience/Qualifications

Knowledge of laboratory standards and procedures as they relate to phlebotomy procedures normally acquired through completion of a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful completion of a phlebotomy training course or equivalent experience beneficial.

Certification as a Phlebotomist or Clinical Laboratory Assistant by a national accrediting agency, i.e. ASCP, NCA, etc., beneficial.

A minimum of three years clinical laboratory experience.

Phlebotomy technician experience or related health care experience and computer experience beneficial.

Previous experience in a supervisory role beneficial.

Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, who may be under physical and/or emotional stress, as well as to provide effective leadership for assigned personnel, and to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with various hospital departments.

Possesses good communication skills both verbally and in writing. Skills include ability to coach, enroll, counsel and mentor.
