Role Overview Power Testing and Energization (PTE) team is seeking 20 experienced Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services Technicians to support high-voltage substation testing and commissioning projects across the U.S. Candidates can be located anywhere in the country — this is a road-based role with up to 80% travel including multi-day deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test and commission P&C systems on high-voltage substations (15 kV – 500 kV)

  • Perform hands-on protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150, and similar test sets across SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith relay families

  • Conduct control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit verification, settings uploads, and static/dynamic relay testing

  • Lead tailgate safety meetings, daily JHAs, and regulatory compliance walkthroughs

  • Coordinate on-site prep, testing logistics, and equipment deployment

  • Document field activities using digital tools, field forms, and mobile applications

  • Track calibration and maintenance logs for field equipment and vehicles

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with medium and high voltage electrical testing — circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation P&C systems

  • Proven expertise with transmission, generation, or distribution protective relays (SEL, GE, Basler, Beckwith)

  • Familiarity with NETA, IEEE, and NFPA testing standards

  • Proficiency with testing software: ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset

  • Strong field documentation skills

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record

  • Ability to travel up to 80% and work in physically demanding outdoor environments

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (degree not required)

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently / up to 100 lbs with assistance

Experience Range: 3–20 years Industries: Energy/Utilities, Electrical Equipment & Components

Note: Candidates with Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150 experience — if they have those tools, they're likely qualified.
