Full job description
Position Overview
The Power Generation Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role within OPPD¿s Generation Engineering team. This team supports OPPD¿s mission to provide affordable, reliable, and environmentally sensitive energy by maintaining and improving electrical systems across multiple power generation sites, including Cass County, Turtle Creek, Jones Street, and others. In this role, you will support a variety of engineering activities involving generator systems, plant electrical control systems, logic updates, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will develop foundational skills while contributing to the safe and reliable operation of OPPD¿s generating facilities.
The Impact You¿ll Have

Apply fundamental engineering principles to support technical analysis, problem-solving, and evaluation of electrical system performance.

Execute assigned engineering tasks accurately and efficiently while adhering to established standards and procedures.

Support updates to plant electric control systems, including logic revisions and system documentation.

Troubleshoot basic electrical equipment issues by collaborating with operators, technicians, and senior engineers.

Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and reports that contribute to project execution and system reliability.

Contribute to team success through dependable performance, collaboration, and adherence to safety and compliance requirements.

Preferred Experiences

Bachelor¿s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Foundational engineering knowledge with the ability to apply principles to practical situations.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality work.

Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Internship or academic experience in power generation, electrical systems, or industrial environments.

Exposure to PLC logic, control systems, SCADA, or plant electrical equipment.
Salary/Wage Info
Grade: S3
Minimum: $81,905
Midpoint: $102,381
