Summary:

Our internship is designed for candidates who are sales oriented and interested in careers in sales and/or management. Our 10-12 week summer 2027 internship experience is paid and will provide candidates a working knowledge of the industry by exposing them to all aspects of the electrical distribution field through a combination of mentoring and on-the-job training. The program requires a strong commitment from each participant and encompasses, but is not limited to, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, counter sales, sales and interpersonal skills, customer relations and CED business philosophy. Our interns will have the opportunity to work on special projects such as market sales or customer analysis, as well as, other projects custom designed by the management team and the intern. About half the internship will be spent in the warehouse with the other half in an office setting. Our ideal intern has a desire to work in one of our full time sales and management programs post-graduation.

The hourly compensation for openings in the state of Illinois is $19/hr. Compensation in other locations is based on experience and varies by market.

Reports to: Profit Center Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Pursuing a 4 year college degree (business preferred) with graduation by June 2028

• Current, valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

• Authorization to work in the United States (without requiring work authorization sponsorship by CED now or in the future)

• Reliable transportation to and from job locations

• Able to use a computer and smartphone with relevant applications

• Regular and consistent attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong negotiation skills

• Sales experience

• Strong leadership

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software

• Comfortable in a blue collar, warehouse setting

• Detail oriented

• Ability to solve problems

• Willingness to be assigned to locations based on company needs

• Must be a self-starter who can handle a heavy volume of work and be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time without an overly structured schedule

Working Conditions:

Conditions vary based on the intern's current segment of the training and will include warehouse, office and external environments. During some segments, activities will include lifting, sorting, standing, possible extreme heat/cold conditions. Office segments may include sitting for extended periods.

Compensation Range:
