Summary

1-year non-reimbursable assignment. The only compensation for this assignment is the federal salary you are already receiving. DHS Headquarters Acquisition Professional Career Program Program Manager Series Requested: 0201, 0301, 1102, 0340 Security Clearance: None Virtual/Remote: No Only current, full-time federal employees are eligible. Resumes are reviewed every 30 days until selection/closing date. This is a Detail, not a Developmental Rotation. Supervisory approval form must be signed.

Duties

Are you interested in helping develop the next generation of acquisition professionals? Do you want to gain experience in recruiting and developing young talent and hone your leadership skills? The Office of Acquisition Workforce is responsible for learning, development and certification programs for the DHS acquisition workforce. The Acquisition Professional Career Program (APCP) is a three-year developmental program used to recruit, train, and retain future acquisition leaders. We focus on technical training, professional skills, and the practical application of acquisition principles and procedures. APCP program managers participate in recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, training, and evaluating program participants. Participants are assigned to OCPO and detailed to DHS Components for on-the job training. As the supervisors of record, APCP program managers work with Component coordinators and supervisors to assess development and performance. Program managers also work with the Homeland Security Acquisition Institute and Acquisition Career managers to plan and adapt the learning plans for the participants Qualifications

Qualifications required: Familiarity with federal recruiting and hiring practices. Familiarity with coaching and mentoring others. Familiarity with evaluating employee performance. Familiarity with federal acquisition disciplines (e.g. contracting, program management). Initiative and Independence: Demonstrates the ability to take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision, proactively address participant needs. Strong Communication Skills: Excels in both written and oral communication, with the ability to prepare and conduct difficult conversations. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively builds relationships and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership. Other Information

**DHS does not offer any additional benefits beyond that which the Federal employee is already receiving. If the position requires a security clearance, employees must have a SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance to placement AND must maintain that level of clearance while performing in the position. Selected applicants for a JDA are requested to fulfill the items below during the JDA: Complete the DHS Training Course 15 days prior to the arrival to the JDA. Complete the DHS Joint Duty Assignment Progress Plan to include: Phase 1: Establish assignment objectives within the first 30 days of the JDA. Phase 2: Complete a self-assessment of the duties performed at the mid-point of the JDA. Phase 3: Complete a final review within the last 30 days of the JDA.
