Position Summary
Arkema is seeking a highly motivatedStaff Plant Instrument Engineerto join our manufacturing team in Calvert City, Kentucky. This role provides instrumentation and control engineering expertise to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve process performance, optimize control systems, manage capital projects, and support reliability initiatives across the plant.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, leading projects, and making a direct impact on manufacturing performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Control Systems & Process Optimization
-
Improve and optimize existing process control systems to enhance plant performance, reliability, and efficiency.
-
Support distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), safety instrumented systems (SIS), and variable speed drives (VSDs).

Identify and implement control strategy improvements.
Engineering Project Management
-
Lead instrumentation and controls projects through concept development, design, construction, commissioning, and startup.
-
Develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.
-
Manage project budgets and ensure successful project execution.
-
Coordinate contractors and internal resources.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
-
Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting instrumentation and control issues.

Support maintenance and operations teams in diagnosing and resolving equipment problems.

Assist in developing sustainable reliability improvements.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
-
Ensure instrumentation and control systems comply with all applicable company, federal, state, and industry requirements.

Support Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives and safety instrumented system performance.
-
Promote a strong safety culture through active participation in site safety programs.
Reliability & Standards Development
-
Collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel to improve equipment reliability.
-
Contribute to the development and maintenance of instrumentation standards and best practices.
-
Support inventory optimization and maintenance efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or another technical discipline.
Required Experience
- Minimum of1 year of experiencein instrumentation and control system design, maintenance, or engineering within a chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Understanding of instrumentation and process control systems.

Experience working with DCS, PLC, and SIS platforms.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
-
Commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience in chemical manufacturing.
-
Working knowledge of ISA, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and EPA standards.

Experience supporting reliability and maintenance improvement programs.
-
Project management experience including contractor coordination and capital project execution.
Working Environment
-
Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to typical industrial operating conditions.

Interaction with operators, maintenance personnel, contractors, and engineering staff.

Minimal travel required.
