Full job description
The Role:
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement across our pharmacy automation operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, analyze process performance, document current-state and future-state workflows, and help implement sustainable Lean and Six Sigma-based solutions that reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
The iA Intern Program is a 10-week summer internship, running from, Tuesday June 1, 2027, through Friday, August 6, 2027.
What you’ll do:

Support the implementation of Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.

Analyze existing manufacturing processes and assist in developing standard work instructions, process maps, and value stream analyses.

Assist with time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to optimize production efficiency.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and resolve process bottlenecks and quality issues.

Participate in kaizen events, 5S audits, and other continuous improvement activities.

Collect and analyze data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Minitab to monitor process performance and support decision-making.

Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and implementation plans to the manufacturing engineering team.

Help implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) techniques and visual management tools to improve process reliability.
Who you are:
-
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (coursework or project experience preferred).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a hands-on, team-oriented attitude.

Passion for innovation and improving manufacturing systems.
Even better if you have:
- Knowledge of problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, A3 Thinking, Fishbone Diagrams, or Root Cause Analysis.

Compensation:
The estimated hourly rate range for this position is $18.00 to $26.00 per hour, though a candidate's hourly rate shall be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience.
