Full job description

Job Title: Senior Data Expert – Data Discovery & Governance

Duration: 3–4 Month Contract (Potential Extension)

Type: Remote / Project-Based

Job Summary:

Seeking a senior Data Expert with strong experience in data discovery, classification, cybersecurity, data protection, governance, and lifecycle management. The consultant will lead enterprise data discovery and classification initiatives, evaluate data security/governance tools, and support Collibra integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead data discovery, inventory, classification, and governance initiatives.

  • Evaluate tools including OneTrust, BigID, Varonis, Cyera, Delphix, RecordPoint, Collibra, and Microsoft Purview.

  • Conduct stakeholder workshops and lead Proof-of-Concept (POC) evaluations.

  • Assess classification accuracy, security, scalability, integrations, usability, and metadata flow.

  • Develop recommendations, implementation feasibility assessments, and a roadmap.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Enterprise Data Discovery & Classification

  • Data Governance & Data Protection

  • Data Lifecycle Management

  • Collibra / Metadata Management

  • Experience evaluating data security/governance tools

  • Strong stakeholder management and POC leadership

Requirements

Senior-level Data Discovery & Classification experience

Strong Data Governance & Data Protection background

Experience with Data Lifecycle Management

Hands-on knowledge of Collibra and metadata management/integration

Experience with data security/classification tools such as:

  • OneTrust

  • BigID

  • Varonis

  • Cyera

  • Delphix

  • RecordPoint

  • Microsoft Purview

Experience leading Data Discovery, Inventory & Classification initiatives

Ability to conduct stakeholder workshops

Experience leading POCs / tool evaluations

Ability to assess classification accuracy, security, scalability, usability, integrations, and metadata flow

Strong experience developing recommendations and implementation roadmaps
