Full job description
Copper is looking for a founding GTM / Business Development leader to help take our new B2B publisher product from 0 to 1.
We've scaled from $0 to $10M ARR in just 18 months since our pivot, backed by $42M in venture funding. Now we're bringing our proven consumer monetization capabilities to other platforms.
We're looking for someone with deep relationships across consumer fintech and digital publishers who loves opening doors, building partnerships, and taking a consultative approach to sales. This is an opportunity to own a new business line from the ground up, with the backing of a proven, fast-growing company.
Are you entrepreneurial, well-connected, and excited to build?
About Copper Copper is a financial empowerment company on a mission to narrow the economic gap by making earning money universally accessible and rewarding. More than 4 million members use Copper to earn by playing mobile games, completing offers and sharing their shopping receipts. We’ve raised over $42M in funding from tier one investors. Did you know that nearly 80% of adults in the U.S. live paycheck to paycheck? Copper helps to solve this problem. The consumer part of our product powers a large commerce marketplace where our brand partners advertise and are able to track outcomes.
The role and the product From fintechs to consumer products, everyone is in search of better monetization and retention of their core product. Copper for Publishers lets any consumer app add a monetization channel powered by Copper's monetization. For partners, this means a new, performance-based revenue line and a stickier product. Good fits include fintech and cash-advance apps, survey and rewards apps, and utility, commerce and entertainment apps with engaged US audiences.
What you'll do
- Build the pipeline. Identify and prioritize publishers with large, engaged audiences: fintech, earned-wage and cash-advance apps, survey and rewards apps, and other consumer apps. Prospect through outbound, your network and industry events.
- Sell to decision makers. Run the full cycle with founders, heads of monetization, product and growth leaders: discovery, demo, revenue projections, proposal, negotiation and signed agreement.
- Structure the deals. Design revenue share, margin and payout terms, minimums and exclusivity that work for the publisher and for Copper's unit economics.
- Get partners live. Work with our engineers and the publisher's team through API integration, testing and launch. Remove blockers so signed deals turn into revenue quickly.
- Grow each account. Track publisher performance after launch (conversion rates, revenue per user, payouts, traffic quality) and find ways to increase it, from placement to offer mix.
- Protect quality. Partner with our fraud and operations teams to vet new publishers and keep traffic clean for our advertisers.
- Be the voice of the market. Bring publisher feedback, competitive intelligence and pricing signals back to product and leadership.
- Own the numbers. Keep the CRM current and forecast pipeline and revenue accurately.
What you'll bring
- 3+ years in B2B sales, business development or partnerships in ad tech, mobile gaming, rewarded or performance marketing, or fintech.
- A track record of closing publisher or supply-side partnerships, ideally for an offerwall, rewarded-play or monetization product.
- Experience building a partnership channel from zero, not only managing an existing book.
- Fluency in performance economics: CPI, CPA, eCPM, revenue share, ARPU and LTV. You can build a revenue projection for a prospect and defend it.
- Comfort with technical sales. You can walk a product or engineering team through an API integration, postbacks and attribution, and know when to bring in an engineer.
- Strong negotiation skills and the judgment to structure deals that hold up over time.
- A self-starter who is comfortable building a new channel with little structure, and who enjoys working closely with a small team.
- Experience with a CRM such as HubSpot.
Nice to have
- An existing network among consumer app publishers, especially fintech, cash-advance, survey and rewards apps.
- Experience selling a rewarded gaming channel or offerwall, or working at a company in that space.
- Familiarity with mobile measurement partners (AppsFlyer, Adjust) and app-intelligence tools such as Sensor Tower.
- An understanding of fraud prevention and traffic quality in rewarded advertising.
Compensation and location
- Location: [Seattle hybrid / Remote, US]. Some travel to industry events and partner meetings.
- Compensation: Competitive base comp plus uncapped commission on publisher revenue, and equity.
- Equity: top decile grant in a fast growing startup.
- 401k : company plan with 4% match.
- Benefits: [Health, dental and vision; Life insurance, PTO; other benefits].
Copper is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds.
