Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) experience. In this role, you will administer servers and perform cybersecurity functions to support a research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) environment. You will build, configure, test, diagnose, repair server operating systems and applications, and automate tasks using scripts. To test connectivity and diagnose issues, you will also need to be proficient with Cisco operating systems. This is a dynamic environment in which configurations frequently change to support the RDT&E mission. Your goal will be to ensure servers and associated networks are fully functional and configured to approved specifications for test and training events. Work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. SCSC is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and provides AEGIS and Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) combat systems for engineering, testing, training, and certification.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

This position requires a bachelor s degree in a related field and eight (8) years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes three (3) of experience with directory services and related protocols, DEVOPS automation, Storage Area Network/Network Attached Storage, and Network File System. Relevant experience also includes four (4) years of experience with network administration in a Cisco environment. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience and a cybersecurity certification (e.g., Security ) may be substituted for the bachelor s degree.

Must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40-hour work-week configurations, including:

  1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift

  2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift

  3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

  4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

**Additionally, these work week configurations may rotate to meet mission requirements.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • A related U.S. Navy NEC.

  • Experience with U.S. Navy AEGIS and/or SSDS systems.

  • Linux and/or Cisco certifications.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $72150 - $122655

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
