Senior Employment Specialist (CV162-1) - Reentry Services Division

Senior Employment Specialist Develop opportunities. Strengthen job retention. Help clients move toward long-term stability.

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking an experienced Senior Employment Specialist to support employment and vocational outcomes for clients within Behavioral Health and Re-entry Services. Reporting to the Employment Director, this role is part of the treatment team and focuses primarily on job development, placement, retention, employer outreach, and vocational support.

This position is ideal for someone with strong employer relationships, vocational counseling experience, and the ability to manage employment activity from initial assessment through placement, site visits, documentation, and retention support.

What You’ll Do:

  • Verify client employment in accordance with funding source requirements

  • Visit work sites prior to clients beginning employment

  • Place clients in employment or vocational training prior to program discharge

  • Develop relationships with prospective employers based on local labor market needs, demand occupations, and client interests, skills, and aptitude

  • Market clients to local employers and coordinate efforts with the Department of Labor and other employment services

  • Link clients to vocational training opportunities through local vocational/technical schools and county employment and training programs

  • Conduct career counseling and vocational assessments during the client orientation period

  • Conduct job readiness and job retention classes at least monthly or as needed

  • Coordinate quarterly job fairs and monthly on-site recruitment events with prospective employers

  • Collaborate with job coaches to support smooth operation of the employment/education function

  • Document client employment and progress in permanent files

  • Collect and maintain data required by funding sources

  • Maintain and update employment tracking information

  • Monitor and report on client/vendor satisfaction

  • Participate in required internal and external Treatment Team meetings

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional relationships with clients, staff, employers, and community partners

  • Complete other duties as assigned

What You Need:

  • Associate’s degree required

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in vocational counseling

  • Experience implementing vocational assessment tests

  • Experience in job placement and retention

  • Strong employability skills and career networking experience

  • Knowledge of the local labor market and employment opportunities

  • Ability to market clients effectively to employers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong multitasking and organizational abilities

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving standards

  • Bilingual abilities are a plus
