Full job description
-
We started by building infrastructure to run CI workloads really fast. Our first product helps companies run GitHub Actions substantially faster and cheaper by owning and operating our own global fleet of bare-metal machines rather than renting generic cloud VMs.
-
Today, we orchestrate tens of millions of Firecracker VMs each week, running CI for 10,000+ companies and tens of millions in ARR. We’ve grown 20x so far in 2026.
-
We operate thousands of bare-metal machines across multiple regions, regularly schedule 300k+ vCPUs concurrently, and run a petabyte-scale Ceph cluster that we manage ourselves.
-
We’ve raised $125M from Seed to Series C, led by Sequoia, Google Ventures (GV) & Peak XV Partners, and we’re intentionally building a small, but exceptional team.
-
Blacksmith was founded by a team with deep systems and scaling experience, including building search/ads infrastructure at Faire, and operating large distributed systems at Cockroach Labs. Our GTM is led by Jon Boyer, formerly Head of Sales at Zapier.
-
We're now extending the same CI infrastructure into a broader platform: running agent sandboxes at scale and building our own background coding agent on top of it.
As the Technical Sourcer you’ll ensure that Blacksmith continues to identify, engage with and hire the highest caliber engineers in the market. The quality of our talent bar is what has driven our success so far. You’ll ensure we continue to meet and exceed these expectations. What you’ll do
-
Own sourcing strategy for engineering and roles across both systems and product engineering.
-
Build talent pools and identify the highest caliber engineering talent networks to tap into.
-
Conduct deep research into engineering talent. Research papers, technical blogs, open-source contributions, social media activity, conference talks. Identify how we can engage engineers in a way that differentiates us.
-
Craft engaging outreach which the best engineers will respond to.
-
Track pipeline data and identify challenges and opportunities within our hiring funnel.
You’re a good fit if you have
-
3+ years of engineering sourcing within a fast paced startup environment, with a rigorous bar for talent.
-
Ability to engage with highly technical content, understand it and craft messages from it that are genuinely compelling
-
Exceptional knowledge of the broader technical talent landscape and where the best engineers are today.
-
You know and have used the latest tools for sourcing and can craft AI workflows which are accurate and scalable.
-
Autonomous, enjoy a challenging environment where you’ll be pushed for excellence and what to continuously be learning.
Compensation and benefits
-
Medical, Vision, and Dental insurance.
-
Competitive base + equity.
-
401K match.
-
Unlimited PTO.
-
Annual offsite.
-
Early-exercise stock options.
-
12 weeks fully paid parental leave (US).
