Full job description

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education

  • Skill and proficiency in applying the principles, concepts, and techniques which are central to the nursing profession. Knowledge of human growth and development necessary for assessment, range of treatment and care of patients appropriate to the patient’s age as normally acquired through completion of Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Arkansas.

  • Experience

  • Knowledge of nursing management practices and procedures as acquired through three years nursing experience in an acute care hospital assuming a leadership or change role. Knowledge of hospital and nursing department policies and procedures and of assigned area/unit activities and personnel as acquired through an orientation program.

  • Physical

  • Normal hospital environment. Exposure to biological hazards. Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Lifting up to 100 lbs. Carrying up to 40 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.

  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for the direct supervision and management of patient care services and professional and non-professional employees, and management of material resources for assigned area/unit. Under the general supervision of Director, responsible for the care delivered by nursing personnel in an assigned area or unit, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Incumbents are subject to call-back as required by the hospital. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of patient care utilizing the continuous quality improvement process. Routinely, assigns and responsibly directs staff. This position is required to utilize independent judgment.
