Education

Graduation from High school with some advanced technical training.

Experience
-
Requires on-the-job training to become familiar with department procedures. Prefer health related field experience and/or allied health sciences with demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology, alphanumeric filing, knowledge of computers, copiers, and fax machines. Good communication skills. Experience with EMR preferred.

Responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties and to assist in with patient throughput. Highly motivated and self-directed ability to respond quickly both physically and mentally. Ability to focus attention and concentrate on several tasks at once. Normal hospital environment. Requires exposure to biological, mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards. Operates FAX machines, copiers, printers, and uses computer terminal; Frequent sitting. Occasional standing, walking and bending, stooping, and carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds; and pushing/pulling wheelchairs up to 350 pounds. May require direct patient contact.

JOB SUMMARY

The Transportation Coordinator Performs a wide range of duties including departmental correspondence, answers phone and schedules transportation for patient flow. Transportation Coordinator receives and coordinates phone, ground and air communications involving medical transports into and out of the medical center. Position is responsible for efficient scheduling of discharge patient’s routes and proper use of external transport resources. They also coordinate and/or communicate estimated time of arrival on all accepted direct admits. Those duties include notifying physicians and other staff of the care team. Maintains confidentiality of patient information at all times. Works with EMR system, Excel Participant Scheduler, and various other sources regarding data entry, chart retrieval, chart tracking, chart faxing, etc. Will be responsible for accuracy and correctness of records, expediting chart completion. Will collect and maintain other data necessary to maintain operations and accurate reporting to both internal and external sources. Performs other administrative duties as requested.
