Responsibilities
Job Summary - Applications Developer II - AI & Automation
The Applications Developer II - AI & Automation role supports the design, development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of AI-enabled applications, intelligent automations, and digital solutions across the organization.
This role uses technologies such as Airtable, Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, AI platforms such as Codex, APIs, low-code/no-code development tools, and emerging AI technologies to automate business processes, improve employee productivity, enhance decision-making, and reduce manual work.
The Applications Developer II partners with business and IT stakeholders to understand business problems and translate them into practical, secure, scalable, and supportable AI and automation solutions. The role participates throughout the solution lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
The role also contributes to the responsible adoption of Generative AI, AI agents, intelligent workflows, and other emerging AI capabilities while operating within established enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, data privacy, AI governance, and development standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, build, test, deploy, and support AI-enabled applications, automations, workflows, and low-code solutions across business functions.

Develop and maintain solutions using Airtable, Microsoft Power Platform, AI platforms, APIs, connectors, scripting, and other approved technologies.

Create AI-assisted workflows, copilots, conversational experiences, agents, and knowledge-enabled solutions for approved business use cases.

Design agentic AI workflows with business rules, integrations, human oversight, exception handling, and escalation paths.
-
Evaluate business processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, user experience, data quality, and decision-making through AI, automation, or workflow redesign.
-
Partner with business stakeholders, Solution Owners, BRMs, analysts, and IT teams to translate requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions.
-
Build and support integrations and data flows across AI, automation, and enterprise applications using APIs, webhooks, connectors, and approved integration tools.

Work with structured and unstructured data while following enterprise data-management, privacy, and security requirements.

Configure AI prompts, instructions, knowledge sources, workflow logic, and guardrails for approved AI solutions.

Test and validate AI-enabled solutions, including functionality, integrations, outputs, exceptions, and user acceptance.
-
Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, reliability, relevance, and appropriate behavior; recommend improvements as needed.
-
Troubleshoot application, automation, integration, and AI solution issues; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
-
Monitor deployed solutions for performance, reliability, adoption, data quality, and business effectiveness.
-
Apply Responsible AI principles and comply with AI governance, cybersecurity, data privacy, access control, IP, records management, and regulatory requirements.

Create and maintain technical documentation, including designs, workflow diagrams, configurations, integrations, testing evidence, support procedures, and knowledge articles.

Follow software development lifecycle, change management, release management, review, and production support practices.
-
Support AI proofs of concept and pilots, helping transition successful experiments into secure, governed, production-ready solutions.

Manage concurrent development activities, enhancements, incidents, and priorities while communicating progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Software Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
-
3+ years of experience in application development, application configuration, workflow automation, systems integration, enterprise SaaS solutions, or an equivalent combination of relevant roles and projects, and education.
-

Preferred Qualifications
Qualifications:

Hands-on experience with one or more low-code/no-code, automation, application development, or AI platforms, such as Airtable, Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, or comparable technologies.

Experience developing or supporting workflow automation using platform-native tools, scripting, APIs, webhooks, connectors, or integration technologies.
-
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply emerging AI and automation technologies to practical business problems.
-
Understanding of APIs, integrations, data structures, data mappings, data validation, and multi-system data flows.
-
Working knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, testing, release management, change control, and production support.
-
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes across interconnected applications, automations, and workflows.
-
Ability to translate business requirements and business problems into practical, maintainable technical solutions.
-
Ability to evaluate where AI is appropriate - and where traditional automation or application development may be a better solution.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to manage multiple assignments while balancing development, experimentation, production support, and operational responsibilities.
-
Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to continuous learning as AI, automation, and application-development technologies evolve.
Preferred :
-
Experience working within regulated, controlled, or enterprise technology environments.

Proven capabilities with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI assistants, copilots, AI agents, prompt engineering, or AI-enabled application development is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:

Independently execute AI, automation, integration, and application-development assignments from requirements through deployment and support.

Apply technical standards, development practices, AI governance requirements, and security controls with limited direction.

Resolve routine-to-moderately complex technical issues and escalate architectural, security, data, or business-risk decisions appropriately.

Maintain end-to-end ownership through implementation, deployment, stabilization, documentation, support transition, and validation of business outcomes.

Manage incoming work through the established intake and prioritization framework to focus resources on highest-value initiatives.

Recommend process improvements and AI or automation opportunities while partnering with senior resources on complex architecture or enterprise design needs.
Working Conditions:

This position is remote and will predominantly follow an Eastern Standard Time (EST) schedule.
