Description -
Personal Systems (PS) is a global business spanning commercial and consumer PCs, workstations, gaming, displays, peripherals, hybrid systems, software, services, and security solutions. With approximately $38 billion in annual revenue, PS represents HP’s largest business segment and operates across a highly dynamic, competitive, and global technology market. PS Finance partners with business leaders across the organization to shape strategy, drive planning and performance management, guide investment and resource-allocation decisions, manage risks and opportunities, and provide the financial insights and governance needed to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.
The Long-Term Planning Senior Financial Analyst is a highly experienced, strategic senior finance professional responsible for shaping and coordinating the long-term financial direction of Personal Systems. This is a senior, high-visibility role requiring demonstrated success operating independently in complex Finance environments and engaging directly with PS business leaders and Finance function leaders. The role leads Budget, Long-Term Planning (LTP), Capital Allocation Committee (CAC), and associated Finance transformation initiatives by connecting business strategy, financial planning, financial modeling, advanced analytics, scenario planning, and execution. This individual serves as a credible and trusted partner to senior leadership, translating complex data into clear insights, challenging assumptions, influencing decisions, and driving alignment across organizations. The role also champions digitally enabled ways of working, using Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and modern analytics tools to improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of Finance processes and decision support.
Responsibilities:
-
Budget and long-term planning: Lead the end-to-end Budget and LTP processes for Personal Systems; establish planning frameworks, assumptions, milestones, and deliverables; integrate financial and business inputs; and ensure plans are strategically aligned, analytically sound, and executable
-
Strategic financial leadership: Translate business strategy, market dynamics, portfolio priorities, and operational drivers into long-range financial outlooks; identify risks, opportunities, trade-offs, and value-creation levers; and provide clear recommendations to senior leadership.
-
CAC leadership and governance : Lead the Finance coordination, analysis, and governance required for CAC; evaluate proposals and resource-allocation choices; ensure consistent assumptions and decision criteria; and track actions, decisions, and outcomes through closure.
-
Financial modeling, advanced analytics, and scenario planning: Develop robust financial models, sensitivity analyses, forecasts, and alternative scenarios; integrate and analyze multiple data sources; identify trends, performance drivers, risks, and opportunities; and translate complex findings into concise, actionable insights and recommendations.
-
Executive decision support: Prepare executive-ready narratives, presentations, and recommendations for leadership reviews; communicate financial implications clearly; challenge assumptions constructively; and enable timely, fact-based decisions.
-
Transformation initiatives: Lead cross-functional Finance transformation initiatives from definition through implementation; clarify outcomes, ownership, milestones, dependencies, and measures of success; surface risks early; remove roadblocks; and ensure sustained adoption.
-
Digital and AI enablement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve planning, analysis, reporting, and collaboration through Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, automation, and modern analytics tools; establish practical use cases and promote responsible, scalable adoption across Finance.
-
Process and operating model improvement: Simplify and standardize planning processes, governance, calendars, templates, data flows, and handoffs; strengthen controls and accountability; and improve the efficiency, consistency, and transparency of long-term planning activities.
-
Cross-functional alignment: Partner across PS Finance, business teams, Strategy, Corporate FP&A, and other key functions to align assumptions, priorities, deliverables, and decision points across organizations and geographies.
-
Leadership and influence: Operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability; lead through influence in a matrixed environment; coordinate contributors at different levels of experience; and create shared ownership for successful delivery.
Knowledge and Skills:
-
Financial modeling and advanced analytics: Exceptional ability to structure ambiguous questions, work with complex data, and translate analysis into business decisions.
-
Business and finance acumen: Strong knowledge of long-term planning, budgeting, performance management, scenario analysis, investment evaluation, and resource allocation.
-
Strategic thinking: Ability to connect market, portfolio, operational, and financial considerations and balance long-term direction with near-term execution.
-
Digital and AI fluency: Advanced ability to apply Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, automation, data visualization, and analytics tools to improve Finance work and decision quality.
-
Executive communication and influence: Excellent presentation and storytelling skills, including the ability to simplify complexity and present clear recommendations to senior leaders.
-
Program and project leadership: Disciplined attention to objectives, ownership, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, actions, and measurable outcomes.
-
Judgment and agility: Ability to challenge assumptions constructively, exercise sound judgment, navigate ambiguity, and maintain quality and momentum under pressure.
-
Collaboration and relationship building: Strong ability to work across functions, levels, cultures, and geographies and align stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
-
Ownership and continuous improvement: Highly responsible, proactive, curious, organized, and reliable, with a consistent focus on accuracy, integrity, follow-through, and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience Required:
-
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, data analytics, strategy, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant professional certification is preferred (e.g., CPA, MBA).
-
Senior-level Finance experience: Typically 10 or more years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, strategic planning, business analytics, consulting, transformation, or a comparable role, including substantial experience operating as a Senior Financial Analyst or at an equivalent level. This role is not intended as an entry point into a senior analyst position.
-
Senior leadership exposure: Demonstrated experience independently leading Budget, LTP, or other complex enterprise planning processes; presenting insights and recommendations to senior business and Finance leaders; and coordinating high-visibility deliverables across a global, cross-functional environment.
-
Proven experience developing advanced financial analyses, scenarios, and executive recommendations that have influenced strategic or resource-allocation decisions.
