Job Title: Mechanical Engineer PE III

Location: Coppell, TX

Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $135,000.00 to $200,000.00

Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote

Overview

The Mechanical Professional Engineer III (PE III) serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of complex mechanical systems for energy and infrastructure projects for hospital and college campuses. This role leads multidisciplinary design efforts, ensuring code-compliant, constructible solutions for HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems. The PE III manages project execution for assigned scopes, mentors junior engineers, and resolves complex technical and field challenges. Responsibilities include overseeing design quality, supporting permitting and procurement, and ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, and energy efficiency objectives aligned with design-build delivery model.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of complex mechanical systems for energy and infrastructure projects for hospital and college campuses.

  • Lead multidisciplinary design efforts, ensuring code-compliant, constructible solutions for HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems.

  • Manage project execution for assigned scopes, mentor junior engineers, and resolve complex technical and field challenges.

  • Oversee design quality, support permitting and procurement, and ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and energy efficiency objectives aligned with ENFRA’s design-build delivery model.

  • Sign and seal engineering documents, lead the design and execution of large-scale projects, and develop detailed system configurations and control schemes emphasizing long-term energy savings.

  • Establish engineering approaches, design standards, and best practices.

  • Provide technical oversight and review of work performed by junior staff.

  • Manage discipline scope, schedules, and budgets on projects.

  • Supervise planning for field investigations and site visits.

  • Review plans for 3D laser scanning efforts.

  • Lead coordination with clients, stakeholders, and external partners.

  • Perform work independently with broad authority, resolving highly complex technical and project challenges.

  • Actively mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.

  • Support existing client relationships through technical input, proposals, and engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years of design experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.

  • Expert knowledge of mechanical system design and applications.

  • Strong leadership, project management, and decision-making capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

  • Advanced communication and client management skills.

  • Experience managing large or program-level projects (preferred).

  • Experience in energy-as-a-service infrastructure delivery models (preferred).

  • Travel requirements: 10-25% of time spent traveling to job sites.

  • Physical/Work Environment: Prolonged desk work, field surveys in loud or elevated locations, and light physical work up to 20 pounds.
