Regular Full-Time
Bethpage, NY, US
Salary Range: $30.00 To $33.00 Hourly
Purchasing Agent
In this role, you will provide support to departments with specific responsibility for implementing purchasing activities in compliance with mandated requirements, oversee daily activities, respond to a range of inquiries regarding the purchase process, and achieve agency objectives and goals within budget.
Requirements

High School Diploma required, Associates Degree preferred.

Minimum five (5) years purchasing experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Experience with electronic procurement software applications.

Ability to plan and manage multiple projects.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Excellent customer service skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships.

Utilize purchasing industry best practices.
Essential Functions
-
Administer bidding processes and contracts for vendor performance and compliance within established limits including preparation of specifications, issuing purchase orders, etc. for the purpose of securing goods and/ or services within budget and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Compiles data from a wide variety of sources including vendors, staff, public agencies, etc., for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with a wide variety of purchasing policies and procedures.

Researches contracts, suppliers, equipment, and regulations, including evaluating vendors for the purpose of determining their capability for performing to established specifications.

Negotiates with vendors for the purpose of obtaining the most advantageous terms and conditions, resolving purchasing issues, and/ or ensuring purchases are within agency requirements.

Maintains purchasing information, files, and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.

Stays current by participating in educational opportunities.
