Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Substance Use Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. In this role, you will provide integrated substance use assessment, treatment, and recovery support to individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help clients reduce harm, achieve sobriety goals, and build sustainable recovery pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments and contribute to individualized treatment planning

  • Provide evidence-based interventions, including motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and relapse prevention strategies

  • Deliver individual counseling focused on substance use and recovery

  • Integrate substance use treatment with mental health services in collaboration with ACT team members

  • Support clients in accessing detoxification, rehabilitation, and community recovery resources

  • Monitor client progress and adjust interventions as needed to support recovery goals

  • Provide education to clients and families on substance use, recovery, and wellness strategies

  • Participate in daily team meetings, case conferences, and coordinated care activities

  • Offer crisis intervention and support in community-based settings

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards

  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field required (Master's strongly preferred)

  • Certification or licensure in substance use counseling (e.g., CADC, CASAC, or equivalent) preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders

  • Knowledge of evidence-based substance use treatment approaches and recovery models

  • Strong communication, engagement, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in ACT, community mental health, or integrated care settings

  • Master's degree

  • Bilingual skills are a plus

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
