Job Summary:

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Configuration Management Specialist for FCCB (Floor Change Control Board) in our Mechanical Engineering Department. Under general direction, this position coordinates and administers assigned FCCB activities relative to identification, control and engineering documentation in accordance with contractual requirements. Monitors procedures and processes for assigned organization and recommends changes. Develops solutions to a variety of non-routine problems. Analyzes proposed changes of design or data to determine overall effect of product or system and reviews and analyzes changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities. Ensures change accounting activity is in compliance with configuration management policies and FCCB department policies and procedures. May provide direction to less experienced staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer configuration management activities related to identification, control and accounting for engineering documents in accordance with contractual requirements.

  • Maintains procedures to implement and process engineering documents for all assigned projects to ensure compliance with policies and scheduling requirements.

  • Participates in reviewing engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality assurance and manufacturing to ensure compliance with customer requirements and Company policy.

  • Reviews work project notifications to assure the accuracy of current contractual reporting requirements.

  • Establishes and maintains procedures for storage, retention and destruction of company records, processing, filming, storing and retrieving current and historical design, technical and programmatic documents according to project, customer and company practices and requirements.

  • Creates, maintains and updates FCCB Sharepoint records as needed.

  • Coordinates, tracks and reports on the progress of assignments and / or projects. Participates in data collection, and data reporting to management.

  • Represents FCCB by responding to routine verbal and written requests for information from internal sources.

  • Participates in change control meetings and is responsible for capturing and distributing meeting minutes.

  • May participate in the selection, development and training of staff and other duties as assigned or required.

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating practices and procedures. Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or a related discipline and six or more years of progressive government or commercial configuration management experience. Equivalent professional government or commercial configuration management experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

  • Have a general understanding of configuration management concepts and principles, and related governmental rules and regulations.

  • Ability to participate in the development of new concepts and communicate and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.

  • Ability to determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level and provide solutions to non-routine proposal problems.

  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.

  • Organization skills to coordinate work phases.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance is required.
