Help prepare the next generation of professional school counselors as a Lecturer of Counselor Education within our Master of Science in Education School Counseling Program. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated counselor educator to teach graduate-level courses, supervise practicum and internship experiences, and contribute to the success of a supportive, student-centered program.

This is a full-time, 10-month academic appointment. The Lecturer will report to the Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education and will play an integral role in the delivery of our CACREP-aligned School Counseling curriculum.

The goal of our School Counseling Program is to prepare counselors to work in school settings using comprehensive developmental programs based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. Faculty and candidates work closely together in small cohorts, fostering a collegial and hands-on learning environment. Our graduates serve as school counselors throughout New York State and beyond, and our program maintains strong partnerships with local school districts that provide rich field-based training opportunities. Faculty regularly collaborate across departments and engage in activities related to ASCA and CACREP standards, school counselor preparation, and clinical supervision.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teaching graduate-level courses within the School Counseling program.

• Supervising students in practicum and internship placements.

• Participating in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement efforts aligned with ASCA and CACREP standards.

• Engaging in departmental, college, and university service activities.

• Maintaining active involvement in the school counseling profession.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in School Counseling from a regionally accredited college or university.

• Professional experience in counseling, counselor education, or a related field.

Preferred:

• Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

• Certification and/or licensure appropriate to School Counseling.

• A minimum of four years of professional school counseling experience.

• Experience teaching one or more of the following courses: Counseling Techniques, Group Counseling, School Counseling Practicum, and/or School Counseling Internship.

• Knowledge of ASCA (American School Counselor Association) National Model standards.

• Knowledge of CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) standards.

• Training and/or experience providing clinical supervision.

• Experience working with diverse and/or multicultural populations through teaching, mentoring, research, service, or professional practice.
