Full job description
Tri-City Group is currently hiring an Infrastructure Engineer in Davenport, IA. This position supports the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of core infrastructure systems, including servers, networking, virtualization, and cloud environments. This role oversees advanced technical escalation, infrastructure project delivery, security and recovery practices, and vendor coordination to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of the systems our organization and clients depend on.
Essential Duties:

Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues beyond Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.

Provide advanced troubleshooting across desktops, servers, networking, and cloud environments.

Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server, Microsoft 365, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure.

Manage and troubleshoot networking equipment, including firewalls, routers, switches, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless solutions.

Monitor infrastructure performance to support reliable and efficient operation.

Conduct root cause analysis on recurring issues and implement permanent solutions in collaboration with other IT teams.

Plan and execute infrastructure projects, including system migrations, upgrades, and security improvements.

Coordinate project work with vendors and internal teams to keep delivery on schedule.

Participate in change management processes so that infrastructure changes, patches, and upgrades cause minimal disruption to users.

Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery practices, and verify recoverability on a defined schedule.

Monitor for security threats and support compliance requirements and audit activity.

Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to resolve hardware and software issues.
-
Manage competing priorities across support requests and project work, balancing day-to-day tickets against longer-term initiatives.

Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, and infrastructure changes.

Develop and maintain IT documentation, procedures, and knowledge base content.

Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff and provide technical guidance.

Identify and create automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.

Communicate technical guidance and recommendations professionally with internal and external stakeholders, in terms both technical and non-technical audiences understand.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred but not required; equivalent hands-on experience in a related role will be considered in its place

Minimum of 4 years' experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or advanced technical support; managed services or multi-client environment experience preferred
-
Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS and DHCP, and Microsoft 365
-
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
-
Working knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, switching, and cloud technologies
-
Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, compliance requirements, and security tooling

Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident management tools
-
Microsoft, CompTIA, or Cisco certification preferred but not required
-
Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment preferred
-
Proficient in MS Office Suite
