Job Description

Equinox is looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee new club developments. In this role, you will manage projects from early planning and budgeting through construction and final closeout. This leadership role requires in-depth field experience and strong budget management skills. You will serve as the main point of contact for the company, managing architects, engineers, and general contractors while keeping landlords and internal teams aligned. You will oversee project scope, costs, and quality while helping teams resolve field challenges and maintain Equinox’s premium standards. This position requires deep construction knowledge, strong financial oversight, and a proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a background in hospitality, high-end retail, or design-focused commercial interiors, with a commitment to delivering high-quality spaces. What You’ll Do Daily

  • Own the Project Financials: Manage project budgets, forecasts, pay applications, and change orders. You will evaluate cost exposures and negotiate changes aggressively to protect the budget.
  • Drive Pre-Construction: Partner on site evaluations, feasibility studies, due diligence, contractor bidding, bid leveling, and contract awards.
  • Coordinate Design & Constructability: Review construction documents with internal design teams and external consultants to spot constructability conflicts, code issues, or departures from prototype standards early.
  • Enforce Luxury Quality Standards: Conduct regular site visits to protect design intent. You will closely inspect high-end finishes, including custom millwork, complex lighting, specialty tile, athletic flooring, and acoustic detailing.
  • Manage Handoffs & Closeouts: Lead substantial-completion walks, punch-list resolution, equipment commissioning, and smooth handoffs to our Club Operations and Facilities teams.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience, with a heavy emphasis on high-end commercial interiors.

  • Strong financial and negotiation skills: Proven experience owning multi-million dollar construction budgets, managing contracts, and negotiating change orders.

  • Deep technical knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, complex building drawings, and MEP/life-safety systems.

  • Travel flexibility: Ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally to lead active job sites.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience delivering luxury fitness, hospitality, high-end retail, or restaurant projects.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.
  • Professional certifications like PMP, CCM, or LEED credentials.

As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in translating high-end design concepts into functional, luxury spaces.
