  • Maintain sufficient technical expertise in SQL Server, relational databases, database connectivity, and linked-server architecture to effectively guide the reporting team, evaluate proposed solutions, identify potential performance or design concerns, and engage Technology partners on technical decisions.

  • Drive sound data architecture practices across the reporting function, including data lineage, source-to-report traceability, reusable data structures, performance optimization, documentation, and appropriate separation of development, test, and production environments.

  • Establish and oversee source-control and development practices using Git-based repositories, ensuring SQL scripts, database objects, reporting logic, configuration, documentation, and other applicable technical artifacts are appropriately version-controlled, traceable, and governed.

  • Establish appropriate development, testing, peer-review, change-management, and implementation standards for reporting and data solutions to improve quality, maintainability, resiliency, and control.

  • Take a lead role in setting policy or developing and overseeing the implementation of procedures or controls related to compliance requirements within overall business processes.

  • Ensure reporting and data development practices align with applicable data governance, information security, change-management, and risk-control requirements.

  • Define and participate in the achievement of short- and long-term business objectives.

  • May oversee budget, P&L, and other business reporting.

  • Analyze variances and report to leadership.

  • Make recommendations on variances and methods to increase efficiency and lower costs.

  • Implement recommendations upon management approval.

  • Identify opportunities to modernize and automate reporting capabilities, eliminate redundant processes and datasets, and improve the efficiency and scalability of the reporting environment.

  • Take a lead role in supporting departmental audits, including user recertifications and compliance testing.

  • Manage and facilitate the planning, testing, and implementation of new projects, systems, products, and regulatory changes impacting the department.

  • Provide oversight of technical design, data requirements, testing strategies, implementation readiness, and production transition for reporting-related solutions.

  • Act as lead for departmental system support, coordinating with internal business partners, vendors, and Technology to address issues for the department.

  • Provide functional system expertise through the Division up to the Bank.

  • Lead or oversee resolution of complex reporting, database, data-quality, connectivity, and performance issues, ensuring root causes and sustainable corrective actions are identified.
