Full job description

Position Summary

The Industrial Engineering Intern will support process improvement, workflow analysis, capacity planning, and lean initiatives across our manufacturing operations. This role is

ideal for a student who enjoys analyzing systems, reducing waste, and improving how work gets done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support process mapping, time studies, and workflow analysis

  • Assist with capacity planning, production scheduling, and layout optimization

  • Collect and analyze production data; develop reports and dashboards

  • Participate in lean and continuous improvement events, including 5S and Kaizen

  • Help standardize work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Collaborate with operations, quality, safety, and engineering teams

  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and increase throughput

  • Present recommendations to leadership at the end of the internship

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering,

Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field

  • Completed coursework in work design, operations research, statistics, or lean manufacturing

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Minitab, Power BI, Visio, or similar tools

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Interest in defense manufacturing and continuous improvement

  • Must be a U.S. Person due to ITAR requirements

Preferred

  • Prior internship or project experience in a manufacturing or operations environment

  • Exposure to lean Six Sigma, value stream mapping, or statistical process control

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
