Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for administrative and clerical support services. Typical work assignments will include: Ensures visitors are greeted, badges issued, properly recorded in appropriate logs, and escorted. Answers phones and transfer calls to appropriate staff. Routinely logs, sorts, and distributes mail and packages to appropriate departments or staff. Schedules appointments and arranges meetings. Develops and maintains basic reports, databases, or spreadsheet applications to store, manipulate, sort, and report information from office records. Provides technical assistance and processing support to the Administrative Division. Provides office automation support by using various software programs to create, edit, and edit a variety of correspondence, memoranda, and reports. Interacts with visitors and staff, and ensures effective customer service is their priority. Qualifications
GS-06: To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level which could have been gained in the federal, public, and/or private sector. Specialized experience is performing a wide range of routine administrative duties such as: performing clerical support in an office setting, including managing a front desk or general office operations (e.g., answering phones, assisting visitors, and handling mail); reviewing documents for accuracy and assisting with processing forms or requests; maintaining files and/or records; utilizing automated software to prepare documents, reports, correspondence, and/or other related materials. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority. Such proof may include a copy of your written notification of ICTAP eligibility or a copy of your separation personnel action form. How You Will Be Evaluated
Your application will be evaluated and rated using Rule of Many procedures under 5 C.F.R. § 332.402 based on cut-off score (job analysis-based), cut-off score (business necessity), set number of highest ranked eligibles, or set percentage of highest ranked eligibles. Preference eligibles will receive 5 or 10 points added to their score based on the adjudicated preference. All eligibles at or above the pre-determined set number including any preference eligibles with a service-connected disability of 10 percent or more, at any score, will be referred to the selecting official for consideration. The selecting official will receive a sufficient number of names, when available, to consider at least three candidates per vacancy. If fewer than three eligible and available candidates per vacancy result, the referral will be expanded in accordance with DOJ's guidance on supplemental certification. The selecting official will adhere to veterans' preference rules and Rule of Many procedures when making selections. You will be assessed on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics): Accountability, Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Decision Making, Flexibility, Integrity/Honesty, Interpersonal Skills, Learning, Reading Comprehension, Reasoning, Self-Management, Stress Tolerance, and Teamwork In order to be considered for this position, you must complete all required steps in the process. In addition to the application and application questionnaire, this position requires an online assessment. The online assessment measures critical general competencies required to perform the job. The assessment includes a cut score based on the minimum level of required proficiency in these critical general competencies. You must meet or exceed the cut score to be considered. You will not be considered for the position if you score below the cut score or fail to complete the assessment.
