Full job description
The Real Estate Services Department is seeking motivated commercial real estate professionals to join their team as a Real Estate Associate - PSE*! This is an opportunity to build your public-sector real estate experience while working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of commercial real estate transactions and County facilities throughout San Bernardino County. Ideal candidates will have experience in commercial brokerage, leasing, property management, development, or related commercial real estate work. The current vacancy is being filled as a Public Service Employee (PSE)** appointment and is located within the Department’s professional real estate organization, providing an opportunity to gain progressively responsible experience in commercial real estate transactions and portfolio management. Key responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Supporting commercial leasing transactions from property identification through occupancy
- Conducting market research and analyzing comparable lease transactions
- Coordinating property tours and communicating with brokers, landlords, property managers, and County departments
- Assisting with lease agreements, renewals, amendments, and other transaction documents
- Supporting the management of the County’s leased property portfolio
- Coordinating maintenance, repairs, building services, access, and lease compliance matters
- Assisting with due diligence, tenant improvements, and other transaction-related activities
- Maintaining accurate property, lease, and transaction information in County systems
- Preparing correspondence, transaction summaries, recommendations, and supporting documents
**PSE = Public Service Employee: PSE is an extra-help unclassified appointment. This temporary position will be employed for approximately 12-months and is a full-time (40 hours per week) position. Successful candidates shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment, and will not attain regular status. Applicant must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.

The Real Estate Services Department (RESD) is a full service commercial real estate organization providing San Bernardino County and Board Governed entities. RESD has established a strong reputation among its internal clients for providing exceptional technical expertise, negotiation skills, administrative services and client responsiveness both internally, as well as in its dealings with the private sector commercial real estate industry.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check, which includes fingerprints and a medical exam.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Public Service Employee (PSE): Public Service Employees are considered at-will, temporary positions. PSEs do not gain regular status and assignments will not exceed 12 months.
Qualified candidates must meet the Experience AND Education requirement listed below. EXPERIENCE One (1) year of full-time equivalent professional or technical commercial real estate experience in the areas of: commercial brokerage, leasing, property management, development, or commercial real estate support in a mixed-use office, industrial or retail environment.
Note: Qualifying experience must be in mixed use, office, industrial, or retail environment. Residential experience is not considered qualifying.

EDUCATION Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in real estate, public/business administration, economics, or other closely related field.
Education Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying experience may substitute the education requirement.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Foundational experience in commercial real estate, including brokerage, leasing, property management, or transaction support.
- Experience with commercial real estate development, project coordination, or supporting brokers, property managers, asset managers, developers, landlords, or corporate real estate teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, customer service, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively with various stakeholders, and provide responsive and professional customer service.
- Interest in developing skills in commercial leasing, negotiation, real estate transactions, and portfolio management.
