Help Shape the Security of the Next Generation of Artificial Intelligence

TRIAEM is seeking an experienced Technical SETA SME – AI Security to support cutting-edge research and development within the Intelligence Community. This is an opportunity for a senior cybersecurity and AI/ML professional to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, national security, advanced research, and emerging technology.

In this role, you will provide technical expertise and strategic guidance across highly innovative AI security initiatives—helping evaluate emerging technologies, identify vulnerabilities and adversarial threats, strengthen AI/ML systems, and support the transition of research into mission-relevant capabilities.

We’re looking for someone who understands not only traditional cybersecurity, but also the rapidly evolving risks unique to AI—including adversarial machine learning, model poisoning, evasion attacks, model inversion, data integrity, AI red teaming, and secure AI architectures.

If you are energized by difficult technical problems, emerging AI threats, and the opportunity to help protect advanced technologies supporting the nation’s intelligence mission, we’d like to hear from you.

What Candidates Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, cybersecurity, or a relevant engineering field such as electrical, computer, systems, or software engineering. A Master’s degree may be used in lieu of two (2) years of relevant work experience.

  • Eight (8) or more years of work experience in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field.

  • Progressive experience in cybersecurity, with significant demonstrated experience in AI/ML security, data science security, or a closely related field within a federal government or large enterprise environment.

  • Expert-level knowledge of AI/ML security principles, adversarial machine learning concepts, and AI-specific threat vectors, including:

  • Model poisoning

  • Adversarial attacks and evasion

  • Model inversion

  • Data integrity threats

  • Understanding of secure data architectures and pipelines supporting large-scale analytics and intelligence production.

  • Familiarity with AI governance, data quality, and mission assurance in operational environments.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with federal AI governance frameworks and requirements, including:

  • NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF)

  • Executive Order 13960

  • Executive Order 14110

  • Other applicable federal AI memoranda, policies, and guidance

  • Experience with AI red teaming, adversarial robustness testing, or AI penetration testing methodologies.

  • Experience creating program plans, work breakdown structures (WBS), and milestone schedules.

What Would Be Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree or PhD in cybersecurity, physics, mathematics, computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, or a relevant engineering field such as electrical, computer, systems, or software engineering, with four (4) or more years of work experience.

  • Prior experience serving as an AI Security SME or technical advisor supporting a federal civilian agency.

  • Experience within the Intelligence Community (IC), including familiarity with requirements, Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and technology transition.

  • Experience managing a multidisciplinary R&D or Test & Evaluation (T&E) team.

  • Experience serving as a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager.

  • Experience incorporating large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI tools into daily technical workflows.

  • Hands-on experience with Python, common deep learning frameworks, LLM software infrastructure, and cybersecurity tooling.

  • Ability to proactively manage multiple concurrent technical and programmatic tasks.

  • One or more senior-level cybersecurity certifications, such as:

  • CISSP

  • CISM

  • CAISS

  • Equivalent senior-level cybersecurity certification supplemented by demonstrated AI/ML security expertise

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to develop succinct, comprehensive, and understandable technical documents using complex information from multiple sources.

  • Excellent presentation development and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to visually communicate complex technical concepts at a high level to technically savvy but non-expert audiences.
