This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated physician to join an employed position within a busy, well-respected practice, supported by a strong referral base and the full resources of a robust health system network.

• Team: Join an established team of physicians and APPs

• Call Structure: 1:3 weekend coverage rotation

• Practice Setting: 100% Inpatient

• Access To: Dedicated 18-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit, on-site hospitalist support, APPs, and an interdisciplinary therapy team (PT, OT, SLP)

• Employment Type: Employed position within a nonprofit health system

Job Requirements

• Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)

• Licensure: Eligible for Indiana state medical licensure and DEA registration

• Training: Completion of an accredited PM&R residency (Open to graduating PM&R residents/fellows)

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Leadership: Lead the comprehensive medical management and functional restoration plan for an 18-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit, overseeing a capped daily census while serving on an immediate track toward the Medical Director role.

• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Direct patient care plans in close collaboration with physical, occupational, and speech therapists, utilizing on-site hospitalist support for day-to-day general medical management.

• Setting: Primary community hospital setting

• Community: Serving a population of approximately 59,000 in Kokomo (and over 80,000 across Howard County)

How you’ll make an impact in this role

  • Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.

  • Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate discharge planning with case management.

  • Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.

  • Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.

  • Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.

  • Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.

  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
