Integrating cutting-edge technology with human-centric pathways, our platform enhances visibility and provides strategic insight.

Founded in 2003, we serve over 42,000 customers across more than 100 countries, securing 27 million end users worldwide. Mimecast is headquartered in London with our North American HQ in Lexington, MA.

About the Role As a senior member of the North America Revenue Accounting Operations Team, this individual will serve as an accounting subject matter expert within Revenue Accounting Operations, owning North America revenue flux analysis, deferred revenue, and revenue journal entries for our SaaS business. This role partners closely with Sales, Channel, Licensing & Renewals, and Collections to ensure revenue is accurately recorded and comply with the company policy and US GAAP (ASC 606). Daily, the Senior Analyst will review deals for accuracy and completeness as well as answer questions from our internal partners. The Senior Analyst will also serve as the go-to resource for questions on more complex deals and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and audit activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the North America revenue flux analysis each period, investigating variances, identifying drivers, and clearly communicating results to Revenue leadership.

  • Lead the monthly deferred revenue process, including roll-forwards, reconciliations, and analysis of balances, and ensure activity is accurately reflected in the general ledger.

  • Prepare, review, and post revenue journal entries with complete and accurate supporting documentation in accordance with company policy and US GAAP (ASC 606).

  • Review deals daily for accuracy and completeness, focusing on non-standard terms, and escalate issues in a timely manner.

  • Serve as the primary Revenue Accounting Operations resource for daily questions from our internal partners in Sales, Channel, Licensing & Renewals, and Collections, including guidance on complex deals, invoices, and account activity.

  • Contribute to process and control improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of the revenue cycle.

  • Support internal and external audit requests, including preparation of supporting documentation and walkthroughs of process and controls.

  • Apply AI and agentic tooling to core revenue workflows — contract abstraction and review, account reconciliations, flux commentary, audit preparation, and accounting research.

  • Share knowledge and technical guidance with teammates, including building AI fluency across the team — defining what good looks like, what is safe, and what still requires professional judgment.

  • undefined

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.

  • 4+ years of accounting experience, ideally in revenue accounting or a comparable role within a SaaS or subscription business.

  • Hands-on experience with revenue journal entries, deferred revenue, account reconciliations, and flux analysis.

  • NetSuite, Salesforce, or comparable ERP/CRM systems experience.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial/reporting analysis.

  • Experience supporting SOX compliance, internal controls, or internal/external audits preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment in navigating complex accounting scenarios.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accounting stakeholders in Sales, Channel, Renewals, and Collections.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple complex priorities, and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrate interest in contributing to process improvement initiatives.

  • Proactive application of AI to all possible scenarios where efficiency or effectiveness can be optimized is a plus.
