Full job description

Hybrid In Los Angeles or Boston | Full-Time

RedCircle is all about helping podcasters get paid. As our Finance Operations Manager, you'll play a central role in making sure our financial engine runs smoothly, from managing the monthly financial close to ensuring advertisers are invoiced correctly and podcast creators get paid.

You'll be part of our Operations team, working closely with teams across the company to manage RedCircle's financial processes, reporting, and day-to-day operations. Our business involves thousands of podcasters, complex advertising campaigns, and thousands of financial transactions every month, so we're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and excited to dig into the complexities of how the business operates.

This is a hands-on role with significant ownership. You'll coordinate with our contract bookkeeper and external accounting partners, work with our advertising and account management teams to establish processes and resolve issues, and provide accurate financial information to company leadership and investors. You'll also have opportunities to improve and automate our financial workflows as we continue to grow.

If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, likes working with data, can get in the details in the accounting software, and loves building efficient processes, we'd love to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly financial close process, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded, reconciliations are completed, and financial reports are delivered on schedule.

  • Manage advertising revenue reconciliation and invoicing, working closely with our advertising operations and account management teams to ensure campaigns are accurately billed, discrepancies are resolved, and revenue is properly accounted for.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting for company leadership, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, in coordination with our bookkeeper.

  • Maintain short-term cash flow forecasts and help leadership understand the company's cash position, expected inflows, and upcoming obligations.

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations in collaboration with our contract bookkeeper, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, and bank reconciliations.

  • Manage payment operations and support, investigating payment issues, responding to inquiries, and coordinating with internal teams to resolve problems. Oversee AR and AP alongside our bookkeeper.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and processes, partnering with external accountants and other advisors on accounting questions, year-end close, and tax-related requests.

  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate financial workflows, helping make our accounting, invoicing, reporting, and payment processes more accurate, efficient, and scalable.

  • Prepare recurring and ad-hoc financial analyses to help leadership understand business performance, revenue trends, and operational financial metrics.

  • Support company leadership and other teams on finance-related projects and initiatives as needed.

A great candidate has/is…

  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or a hands-on financial operations role, ideally at a technology company or other fast-growing business.

  • Experience coordinating or owning month-end close processes, financial reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, with the ability to work effectively with professional accountants and external advisors.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate financial discrepancies and work with complex datasets.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling, data analysis, and reconciliations.

  • Experience using AI tooling to automate financial processes.

  • Experience with accounting software; familiarity with Xero in specific is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple recurring processes and deadlines independently.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across departments and respond professionally to external financial inquiries.

  • A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and process improvement, including a willingness to tackle both routine operational work and more complex financial challenges.

  • Can work hybrid in-person at the RedCircle office in Los Angeles or Boston 3-4 days per week

Bonus Points

  • Experience in digital advertising, media, marketplaces, or other businesses with complex revenue-sharing or payment models.

  • Experience working with billing systems, payment platforms such as Stripe, or automated financial workflows.

  • Familiarity with SQL, BI tools, or other data analysis tools.

  • Experience developing cash flow forecasts or supporting financial planning and analysis.

  • Experience coordinating work with external bookkeepers, accountants, or fractional finance teams.

Compensation

Estimated annual base salary: $70k - $130k plus equity and benefits. The upper end of the range is for exceptional / highly experienced candidates.
