Full job description

Position Summary The Licensed Mental Health Clinician will provide comprehensive, recovery‑oriented substance use treatment services within a correctional setting. This grant‑funded position supports individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) who are prescribed medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including those with co‑occurring mental health disorders. Primary responsibilities include the treatment of substance use disorders and co‑occurring mental health conditions through counseling, assessments, treatment planning, reentry coordination, and ongoing support for individuals engaged in MOUD. Additional mental health services such as crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment are provided as clinically indicated. Supervision Received Receives general direction and oversight and work directly under the supervision of the Program Director of the E-MAT program and the Chief of Inmate Services performing duties in accordance with all best practices and established guidelines. Duties and Responsibilities Provide treatment for substance use disorders and co‑occurring mental health conditions with an emphasis on recovery and MOUD support, including individual counseling, group counseling, psychoeducational programming, and relapse‑prevention interventions. Conduct SUD and co‑occurring disorder screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluations for individuals receiving MOUD or in need of recovery services. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address SUD, co‑occurring mental health needs, and MOUD engagement, and coordinate release planning to support continuity of care. Collaborate with medical providers and nurses to support MOUD adherence, address concerns, and ensure coordinated SUD, co‑occurring mental health, and medical care. Document all SUD‑related, co‑occurring mental health, and MOUD‑related services, treatment plans, and interventions in accordance with facility and clinical standards. Perform triage and respond to inmate requests related to SUD treatment needs, co‑occurring mental health concerns, or MOUD‑related issues. Provide mental health crisis intervention as needed, including suicide risk assessments, emergency response, and appropriate “watch” level determinations. Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all records, including assessments and treatment documentation. Work closely with case management and reentry support services to ensure continuity of care and community linkage for SUD services, co‑occurring mental health treatment, and MOUD continuation upon release. Collaborate with custody and medical staff to ensure recovery services are integrated with facility operations and safety practices. Understand accreditation standards and maintain compliance with all timelines and documentation requirements. Assist in the administration of standardized assessment tools and participate in treatment plan development for male and female offenders. Work in a team model with both uniformed and non‑uniformed treatment staff to ensure a therapeutic community and continuity‑of‑care standards throughout the facility. /Please note this job description is not designated to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee in this job. LMHC, LCSW, or LICSW required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in clinical social work or mental health counseling; group and individual psychotherapy; crisis intervention; and mental health assessments is required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a correctional facility, mental health facility or detox center id preferred but not required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Environment: This position does require working in the Barnstable County Correctional Facility for up to eight (8) hours per day. This position does require working with individuals currently incarcerated at the Barnstable County Corrections Facility.
