Full job description
Our mission at ŌURA is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.
Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.
We’re looking for a Hardware Program Manager to join Oura’s Hardware PMO. In this role, you will lead a major technical hardware effort from early prototype through PVT, bringing clarity, urgency, and accountability to a complex, cross-functional team. You will coordinate work across Hardware Engineering—including mechanical, electrical, firmware, science, and test—and partner across Product, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other teams to deliver a high-quality product against agreed scope, schedule, and budget. You will lead from the front: running the core team, surfacing decisions and risks early, and communicating program health to executive leadership.
What You Will Do:
-
Lead a major hardware program or program workstream from early prototype through PVT, aligning teams on scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and launch-critical outcomes.
-
Coordinate integrated execution across mechanical, electrical, firmware, science, and test teams; connect their plans, dependencies, decisions, and deliverables into one coherent program plan.
-
Build and maintain the integrated schedule, critical path, milestone plan, and action log. Identify cross-functional dependencies and keep owners accountable for commitments.
-
Plan and coordinate hardware builds from early prototypes through EVT, DVT, and PVT, including build objectives, readiness criteria, material and resource needs, issue triage, and follow-through on build learnings.
-
Run effective core team meetings: set clear agendas, focus discussion on decisions and trade-offs, document actions and owners, and drive closure between meetings.
-
Lead from the front when execution is at risk. Unblock teams, drive timely decisions, align stakeholders on recovery plans, and escalate issues with clear options and recommendations.
-
Identify, assess, and manage program risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies. Ensure mitigation plans have accountable owners, dates, and measurable closure criteria.
-
Own program budget management, including planning, tracking actuals and forecasts, identifying variances, and presenting trade-offs or corrective actions to the appropriate leaders.
-
Prepare and present concise, decision-oriented program updates to the executive team and other senior stakeholders, covering status, schedule, budget, key accomplishments, risks, decisions needed, and recovery plans.
-
Partner with Hardware Engineering and functional leaders to align resource needs, technical priorities, and program commitments; make cross-team impacts and trade-offs visible.
-
Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and manufacturing partners to ensure build readiness, issue resolution, and a clear path through PVT.
-
Maintain accurate program documentation and reporting, including plans, decisions, risks, budgets, build readiness, and status.
-
Contribute to continuous improvement of Hardware PMO practices and product development processes.
This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office.
What you'll bring
-
5+ years of experience leading technical programs or complex product development, preferably in consumer hardware.
-
Experience coordinating hardware development across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, firmware, science or systems, and test.
-
Experience leading a hardware program through NPI stages and coordinating prototype or factory builds; familiarity with EVT, DVT, and PVT is strongly preferred.
-
Strong program-management fundamentals, including integrated scheduling, critical-path management, budget tracking, risk management, dependency management, and action closure.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguity, influence without direct authority, and create accountability while maintaining strong working relationships.
-
Confidence leading core team forums and presenting clear, concise program status and risks to executive or senior leadership audiences.
-
Strong judgment and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical issues into decisions, trade-offs, and actionable plans.
-
Experience with program-management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, Confluence, and Google Workspace; familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Arena is a plus.
-
A desire to learn, take on challenges, and drive results while protecting product quality and customer outcomes.
