Full job description
About Finch Our mission is to make justice radically more accessible to every American household. We combine expert operators with purpose-built AI to automate the admin work of consumer law and put clients first by handling intake, claim opening, medical records, police reports, lien management, demands, and everything in between. Since launching in April 2025, we’ve raised a $20M Series A backed by Sequoia, Redpoint, and the founders & CEOs of DoorDash, Ironclad, and Digits and are running pre-litigation for over 125 of the highest-volume personal injury firms across the country. Explore life at Finch for more.
What you’ll do You will work closely with engineers, product, and operators to support legal operators and attorney partners in high-stakes, time-sensitive casework.
-
Own product design end-to-end for our external-facing case management product, from discovery through implementation.
-
Sit with attorneys and paralegals, watch how they work in Finch’s tools and systems such as Filevine, and identify friction before proposing a solution.
-
Turn individual stakeholder requests into solutions that work across the product, rather than one-off fixes that create clutter elsewhere.
-
Work closely with engineering and the codebase, shipping simple copy, layout, or styling changes yourself where it makes sense.
-
Help extend the external product experience into our internal paralegal tools as the two converge.
-
Bring a clear point of view to design reviews, explain your reasoning, and push back constructively while remaining open to new evidence.
What will make you successful You’ll likely thrive if you have
-
4-10+ years of product design experience, with direct ownership of complex workflows.
-
A demonstrated habit of doing discovery before designing: spending time with the people doing the work, rather than relying only on a brief.
-
Experience designing operationally intensive software, such as B2B or other workflow-heavy products.
-
Comfort thinking in code and working closely with engineers, carrying decisions through implementation rather than stopping at a Figma handoff.
-
A track record of forming and defending design decisions with clear reasoning while staying collaborative and receptive to feedback.
It’s a plus if you have
-
Experience across both consumer products and B2B or operational software, bringing a high bar for craft to complex workflows.
-
Comfort using AI-native design tools to ship simple changes independently.
-
Experience supporting brand or marketing work alongside product design.
-
Genuine curiosity about personal injury or legal work, or a track record of learning unfamiliar, operationally complex industries quickly.
This role may not be for you if
-
You do your best work when the roadmap, problems, and success metrics are already defined for you.
-
You prefer to stay in Figma and hand off designs rather than work with real users and bridge into code.
-
You’re most excited by polished consumer interfaces and have little interest in the operational details behind them.
What happens next We run a human, efficient process. That generally includes:
-
Intro: An initial conversation about your background, motivation, and the role.
-
Interview: A deeper dive with a leader on the team.
-
Case Assignment: A practical assignment that gives you insight into work we do and helps us learn about your approach.
-
Onsite: A visit to our NYC office to meet the team, explore the work together, and have lunch.
