Description

Skilled employee who works under limited supervision to safely provide support for shovel moves, dewatering activities and other mine support functions.

  • Lay and pick up power cables

  • Strategically plan and execute Shovel moves

  • Safely operating cable and boom trucks

  • Set up and maintain Dewatering systems

  • Perform HDPE pipe fusing

  • Assist in mine support activities as necessary

  • Train and mentor other employees

  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in Mine Operations or a related Industrial Operations/Maintenance field working with heavy equipment and shovels

  • Effective written, verbal and communications skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company

  • Able to communicate effectively with Supervisors and other Departments

  • Must have good organizational skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Basic knowledge of mining activities such as cable handling, shovel moves, dewatering, pump set up and HDPE pipe fusing

  • Basic knowledge of Power Distribution for Cable Moves

  • Able to read maps and understand traffic patterns

  • Must have proven safe work history

  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in mining environment

  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Supervisory experience

  • Experience operating bulldozers, rubber tire dozers, track excavators, etc.

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

  • Self-motivated, display leadership qualities and serve as an active member of a high performance team

  • Possess a good safety and attendance record

  • Eligible for transfer/promotion as per the Guiding Principles (Internal Candidates)

Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

  • This is a Safety Sensitive role

  • Work is performed in a mine which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk hear and see

  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday

  • Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

The estimated pay range for this role is currently  $27.00 - $36.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
