The Department of Nursing at Farmingdale State College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Nursing. We seek a dynamic, student-focused educator who is committed to teaching excellence in teaching, scholarly engagement, and service to both the College and broader community. The successful candidate will support the academic mission of the Department of Nursing through teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate programs, contributing to curriculum development and assessment, engaging in scholarly activities, and participating in departmental and institutional service.

All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications, which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. We are also interested in candidates with a history of, or interest in, pursuing external funding for their research. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. The service component of the workload includes student advising and participation on committees.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses in classroom, clinical, simulation, and/or online learning environments.

  • Provide academic advising, support, and mentorship to nursing students.

  • Actively participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous program improvement initiatives in alignment with accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE, AACN Essentials).

  • Engage in scholarly and professional development activities, including research, presentations, or publications.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote student success through innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning strategies.

  • Contribute to departmental, college-wide, and community service initiatives, including committee participation and related activities.

  • Maintain current clinical expertise and professional knowledge within the assigned teaching area(s).

Teaching assignments may include both day and evening classes, as well as possible online and/or hybrid course engagement.

A Doctorate in Nursing or a related field is required to be considered for tenure.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Nursing.

  • Unencumbered RN license in NY or eligible for licensure.

  • Recent clinical experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Evidence of strong communication, organizational, and technology skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing or related discipline.

  • Experience with simulation and innovative instructional technologies.

  • Record of scholarship, publication, or professional presentations.

  • Previous teaching experience in higher education.

Additional Information:

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Tuesday, October 6, 2026, and ending Monday, October 19, 2026, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled, with priority consideration given to applications received by Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

  • SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
