Within Managed Investments, the Specialized Strategies Team (“SST”) offers comprehensive investment solutions addressing goals-based and thematic investment offerings that are actively managed and seek to optimize risk-adjusted returns through top-down portfolio construction and bottom-up vehicle and security selection. SST manages a range of multi-asset and specialized equity strategies, drawing on proprietary research and resources across J.P. The Role
As an Associate on the Specialized Strategies Team, the candidate will work closely with the portfolio management team on SST’s multi-asset portfolios, with a specific focus on Global Equities in the context of broader multi-asset portfolios. The Associate will partner with Portfolio Managers and key stakeholders on analytics, research, and portfolio implementation.
The role requires the desire and ability to work as part of a collaborative team, taking ownership of specific tasks and projects while working independently as needed. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are important. In addition to research and analytics, the candidate will be expected to gain expertise on our operating model needs, including supporting the team’s portfolio implementation and trading processes.
Specific Responsibilities

Support the SST PM Team in portfolio construction, manager evaluation, and capital markets analysis, with an emphasis on the equity-focused strategies.
-
Conduct global equity research and formulate views on companies, sectors, industries, and equity markets to help inform the investment process and generate actionable ideas for multi-asset portfolios.
-
Support the implementation and trading process across SST’s multi-asset strategies.
-
Assist in creating client and advisor materials, including portfolio commentary and investment-related presentation materials.
-
Evaluate investment vehicles across mutual funds and exchange-traded funds, including as expression vehicles for global equity views.
-
Partner with internal stakeholders on the investment side, as well as control partners across Governance, Risk, Trading, Operations, and Technology.
Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
-
3+ years of experience, ideally with exposure to investing, equity research, or portfolio management.
-
Working knowledge of market fundamentals and economics, particularly across global equity markets, and a demonstrated interest in fund evaluation and multi-asset investing.
-
Ability to evaluate potential investments and support recommendations with qualitative and quantitative research.
-
Communication skills are important as the candidate will be working on a visible global team.
-
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a team player mentality.
-
Proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Python, VBA, and other programming languages is a plus.
-
Bachelor’s degree required.
-
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
-
Experience analyzing multiple sources of data and presenting findings to a broader team.
-
Experience in fund due diligence (e.g., mutual funds and ETFs).
-
Experience with third party market data providers (Bloomberg, Morningstar, FactSet, etc.).
-
Ability to connect company fundamentals, sector views, and market themes into investable recommendations within a multi-asset context.
-
CFA encouraged but not required.
