Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Articulated Haul Truck Driver to join our earthmoving team. The successful candidate will operate articulated dump trucks to transport materials such as dirt, rock, gravel, and debris across active job sites, working closely with excavator operators, dozer operators, and site supervisors to keep material movement on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate articulated haul trucks (e.g., Volvo A45) to transport soil, rock, aggregate, and other bulk materials across rough, uneven, or off-road terrain

  • Load, haul, and dump materials in coordination with excavators, loaders, and dozers

  • Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections; complete daily inspection checklists and report mechanical issues promptly

  • Navigate haul roads safely, adjusting for weather, grade, visibility, and site traffic conditions

  • Maintain safe following distances and communicate via radio with spotters, ground crew, and other operators

  • Follow all site-specific traffic patterns, speed limits, and haul road protocols

  • Monitor payload weights to avoid overloading and ensure efficient hauling cycles

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks (greasing, fluid checks, tire inspections) as needed

  • Adhere to all OSHA, and company safety regulations

  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings

  • Maintain a clean and organized operator's cab and report equipment damage or unsafe conditions immediately

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience operating articulated haul trucks or similar heavy equipment

  • Valid driver's license (CDL may be required depending on state/site requirements)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of haul road safety practices and traffic control on active construction/mine sites

  • Ability to read and understand grade stakes, site maps, and basic haul plans

  • Strong situational awareness and ability to operate safely in high-traffic, dust, or low-visibility conditions

  • Physical ability to climb in/out of equipment repeatedly and work in outdoor conditions (heat, cold, rain)

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

  • Willingness to work extended hours, early mornings, or weekends as project schedules require

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

  • Experience with GPS/machine-guidance systems

  • Prior experience on large-scale earthwork, mining, or heavy civil projects

  • Clean driving/operating record

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating heavy machinery

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Adequate vision, hearing, and reflexes to safely operate large equipment
