Full job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable individual to provide essential administrative and patient-support services within the department. Working under the direction of the Director or designee and the Charge Nurse, this position supports nursing and departmental operations while maintaining accurate records, patient confidentiality, safety, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities

Provide indirect patient care and departmental support under the direction of the Director or designee and Charge Nurse.

Transcribe physician orders from the medical record and electronically or by fax, as appropriate, to the designated destination.

Complete accurate transcription to and from the electronic medical record and computerized physician order entry system as required.

Perform detailed assignments and compile information to ensure accurate and complete records.

Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area while following infection prevention and safety practices.

Follow established policies and procedures for copying and preparing patient health information for transfer to other medical facilities.

Maintain compliance with patient medical record access requirements, HIPAA regulations, and organizational Behavioral Standards.

Assist staff with the safe transportation of patients to other departments and medical facilities as directed.

Assist nursing staff with restocking patient rooms and nurse servers.

Retrieve blood products and medications through the designated tube system in accordance with established procedures.

Order office supplies, complete work orders, and receive, organize, and store departmental supplies.

Maintain the department's work areas in a clean, organized, and efficient manner.

Communicate with Environmental Services (EVS) staff regarding room cleaning and turnover.

Maintain ongoing communication with the Charge Nurses on the Oncology and Surgical Floors throughout the shift.

Provide administrative and operational support to the Director, Administrator of the Day (AOD), and nursing staff.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Complete and maintain competencies identified in the Orientation Competency Inventory (OCI).
