Full job description

About Brighterway Brighterway builds AI-native claims software and administration for casualty claims. We started in workers' compensation medical-legal review, where our agentic document pipeline sorts, de-duplicates and summarizes some of the most document-heavy files in the industry for national medical-evaluation networks. We are now building the claims platform on top of that foundation: intake across mail, fax, phone and email, bill review, subrogation, reserving signals, a workflow language, and state and federal reporting. We are backed by Y Combinator and Maverick Ventures. Our customers handle protected health information every day, so we run HIPAA, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 programs. The team is small and technical and sits close to customers. Everyone ships, and everyone talks to the people who use what they ship. The role You have handled claims for years and know what a well-run file looks like. We want that knowledge inside the product. As a Senior Claims Specialist you will adjudicate claims on our platform for our customers, and you will shape how the platform works by telling engineers, in detail, what is right and what is wrong about every screen and every automated step. What you will do

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation claims from intake through resolution, including lost-time and litigated files.

  • Review AI-generated summaries, chronologies and risk flags, and correct them. Your corrections train the system.

  • Define reserve, compensability, medical management and return-to-work practices that we encode into workflows.

  • Work with customers' adjusters and supervisors during onboarding and program transitions.

  • Document jurisdictional requirements for the product team.

What we look for

  • 5+ years of workers' compensation claims handling.

  • Active adjuster license in at least one state, or eligibility to obtain one quickly.

  • Multi-state experience; federal programs experience (Longshore, Black Lung, Jones Act) is a plus.

  • You are precise in writing and comfortable giving blunt feedback to software people.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a TPA or in a self-insured employer program.

  • Experience with claims system migrations.

How we work

  • Small team, high trust, direct access to founders and customers.

  • We ship to production weekly and measure ourselves on customer outcomes.

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity. Health, dental and vision coverage. Flexible time off.
