Full job description
Responsibilities:
-
Oversees maintenance gang to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance.
-
Ensures the safety of employees performing maintenance related activities on RJ Corman Railroads.
-
Ensures track meets all requirements for RJC and FRA.
-
Ensures that employees adhere to all FRA related rules and regulations.
-
Undertakes supervision of special projects as assigned.
-
Completes and maintains all daily maintenance forms including, Daily Production Report, Hot Work Permit, Rail Added Report, etc.
-
Maintains close communication with all operating divisions to discuss and address daily issues and/or concerns as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
-
Prefer related work experience of at least 3-5 years involving track inspection, repair, and maintenance.
-
Strong understanding of FRA rules and regulations required.
-
Must have good communication skills and good employee relations.
-
Should be multi-task oriented and possess good analytical skills.
-
Computer application skills required, and previous supervisory type experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
-
Able to perform physical strenuous work
-
Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
-
Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs
-
Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of force
-
Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of force
-
Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
-
Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in job-site environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles and equipment. Frequent exposure to weather elements; and appropriate PPE required for job site visits.
